THE SPIRIT OF THANKSGIVING
Written by, Pastor Glenn Castro
The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying: “Holy,[a] holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!” Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying: “You are worthy, [b]O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and by Your will they [c]exist and were created.”
The spirit of thanksgiving has to do with the spirit of praise being sustained. We cannot go very long with taking a breath, and the breath of every believer is truly the spirit of praise. Continuous praise is incredibly important in our daily life. We usually see praise as an activity that we do, then it’s over. But there is something about praise that endures before the throne of God, that establishes a covering to shield us against the hellish works of darkness.
Therefore as we approach the end of this year 2020, let us come before the Lord with a thankful heart, not only for His sustaining virtues over us in obvious protection, but also for His generous provision over our livelihood, His providence in nurturing us, in cultivating us to be the people to show forth His loving kindness to those around us, to our dear loved ones, and to every soul in need of care.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we dedicate ourselves to be Your voice to declare salvation to the lost; Your hand to bring relief to the needy; Your arms to embrace the weary and downtrodden; and Your love to declare hope to the dark shadows in our path, as we keep our hearts in an attitude of gratitude, forever lifting our voice in praise to Your Wonderful Name. This we pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
