Communion With God
Written by, Pastor Paul McCarthy
Our communion with God consists in:
1. His communication of Himself to us,
2. Our returning to Him what He requires and accepts,
This flows out of that union we have with God, in and through Jesus Christ.
(paraphrase John Owen)
God has communicated Himself to us, by pouring on us and in us, His grace, His Love, His Mercy, His compassion, His forgiveness, His adopting us into His family, His justifying us and glorifying us.
God also communicates Himself to us, by abiding in us by His Spirit and His Son; 1 John 3:24, John 17:23.
We return to God what He requires and accepts; that is we return to God our Faith in Him, our Love To Him, our Trust In Him, our Joy In Him, Our Obedience To Him.
We need to take time to meditate on these glorious truths and feed on them as food for our souls.
1. acknowledging and
2. accepting by faith
God’s communication of Himself, His Grace, His Love, His Forgiveness, His Mercy… to us – we commune with Him.
Your heavenly Father wants you to spend time in His presence meditating on these glorious truths so the reality can be released in your life and experience.
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God,
and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
that the man of God may be complete,
thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
